Sometimes my antidepressant seems to have failed and I feel sad again what’s happening?

You need to understand how depression goes away. Instead of just feeling better and better with time, you begin by feeling better in short episodes. As your depression continues to heal, these undepressed episodes grow longer and closer together until you feel better for days at a time. You will begin to retain a feeling of happiness and normalcy for weeks, then months at a time until you almost forget what your depression was like.

However, when you do have a moment of depression, the feelings will still be strong. Don’t panic if the bad memories and dark associations come back briefly in full force. This does not mean your treatment is not working, nor does it mean that you are falling back into depression. This is just the way depression makes its exit, with brief curtain calls that grow shorter and farther apart.
