What is honesty

The actions of telling what is true, guided by kindness, compassion, and empathy. No one likes or wants to see a loved one suffer, and family members often make every effort to protect loved ones from what they perceive as harsh truths. Yet most people appreciate knowing the full seriousness of a situation, even when the information is unpleasant. It is much easier to prepare for the known that for the unknown. Although most people with Parkinson’s live the remainder of their natural lives as the disease is seldom fatal, Parkinson’s changes the course and quality of life for everyone who has it. Facing challenges together, rather than pretending they do not exist, is ultimately more satisfying to the person with Parkinson’s as well as to family members and friends. Honesty can acknowledge the negative but emphasize the positive.
